I wanted to get our family away from ordering cases of single-serve popcorn bags as well as microwave popcorn. This did the trick. It only holds a half-serving, which I like. The air popper in our cabinet has to be full or it blows half the kernels out, and once it’s popped it’s hard to restrain yourself from eating 8 servings. It worked with the popcorn setting on my microwave that determines how long to pop on its own. (How does it know?) It worked the same when I put some olive oil in the bottom so salt and “yeast food” would stick afterward. No issues in the dishwasher, either, though I don’t use the dry setting.EDIT: Our microwave occasionally stops rotating. I didn’t notice and it melted a portion of the bottom while leaving most popcorn unpopped and the rest scorched. It still works in spite of the damage, but I now know it has to be moving.

We’ve tried 3 different varieties of kernels (Jolly Time, Orville R, and Trader Joes brand) and many different cooking methods, but still can’t ever get a full container full of popped corn. However, we can reliably now get 2/3 to 3/4 full with no burning. As long as you are willing to accept dumping a fair amount of un-popped kernels at the end, I think you will be happy with this popper. It is easy to use and clean, and none of that junk that is in bagged microwave popcorn. Here’s our method for getting the best out of this popper:* Pre-heat the glass container by putting a little bit of water in it and microwaving it for 90 seconds. We find this helps yield more popcorn if the container starts out warm* Dump the water and fully dry out the container* Add 1 & 1/2 measured “scoops” of kernels, dry, no oil* Pop for 3 minutes and 30 second (the ideal time will depend on your microwave YMMV)* Do not use the silicone top to melt butter; if you want butter, melt that separately. This provides better coverage and makes the container easier to clean or to turn around and make another batch immediately.

I love popcorn but buying organic popcorn in 3 bag boxes gets expensive. I love glass… a glass popcorn maker you say? Sold. This thing makes popping corn kernels a breeze. First off – seed quality and microwaves vary a ton so I am using O Organic popping corn from tom thumb and I have a 2019 Whirlpool microwave that has a popcorn function that listens to the popping and stops automatically. So it automatically adjust heat and time accordingly. That being said I poured 2 capfuls in per instructions and within minutes I had fresh delicious popcorn and I am talking fresh, baby! Delicious fresh popcorn. Put the silicone lid on and it stays fresh for at least three days, crisp and fresh.I added salt the second time prior to popping and just the right amount of salt taste remained. Washed it in my dishwasher, no problems!

This is awesome! What I thought would be a negative, has become a positive. Because of the shape of the glass, you need a fork to get the popcorn out. It gets packed pretty tight. I thought, really? But I also found that because of the shape and texture of the glass, and the need for a fork, almost all the unpopped seeds remain behind, and I pretty much only serve the popped stuff. The seeds that are left I put back in the microwave and almost all of them pop. It is normal to end up with 5 or less seeds. Very cool! Doesn’t happen everytime, but very cool. And a lot less seeds than any other popper I have had.In the past, I used to used a BPA free popper but, still, it is a plastic and I don’t trust that all carcinogens are avoided. But this interior is all glass. Instead of the silicone top they provide, I use a high temperature glass food storage bowl that fits perfectly. Prior to finding that, I used a ceramic plate. So, health-wise, it gets a thumbs up bigger than the thumb I have.Everyone’s microwave is different. The plastic popper would average 1 minute 45 seconds to pop everything, and 2 minutes and 30 seconds at the most. This glass popper (I think it depends on how cold it is outside) averages 2 minutes 30 seconds. It has taken as little as 2 minutes and 15 seconds to as much as 3 minutes and 30 seconds. A small wait for a healthier situation. The plastic handle allows grabbing it immediately. I would not be rough with the handle at all, it is a little thin. I suggest that when washing it, only pour water on the inside, and use something damp to clean the outside. Water can easily get between the plastic and the glass. An experience I had with jars that had an outside tin taught me how to care for something made like this. Take care of it and it will take care of you.All that said, there is not another one like this. A real gem. I bought the larger one, and eat so much more popcorn than I ever did. So fun. So worry free about the lack of plastic involved in the popping.

Great purchase! After realizing that microwave popcorn was unhealthy, I looked for an alternative. Since I’m the only one that enjoys popcorn in my household, this single serving was a great option. I love the look, the simplicity and I now realize the taste of just popcorn (ok, with a little butter) is much better than the microwave version. Plus it saves $$$.Complaints about burning is because there is a fine line between popping as much as possible and risking browning of some kernels. But once you’ve popped 3 or so times, you’ll have it down to the second. Love, love, love everything about this little popper.

I purchased this for my sister for her bday. She loves popcorn especially movie theater popcorn so she was very excited about her gift. She loves it!!!!!!!

I’ve been microwaving my own popcorn for many years and always bought the bulk popcorn but was never really satisfied with a popcorn popper until I got this one but now it’s my all time favorite. Very easy clean up and it pops almost all the kernels every time. In my opinion this size is really a single portion and if two people want to share you should get the bigger size but my GF and I prefer the smaller portions anyway because we’re so weight conscious. I sometimes use coconut oil in the measuring cup on the lid and sometimes use butter for flavor but you can “air pop” without oil as well. A little butter or oil goes a long way and helps the salt stick. That cup you see in the lid is a measuring cup so you’ll use the right amount of popcorn and if you then dump the popcorn in the popper you can then add the butter or coconut oil (in solid form) in the cup and just leave it there and it will drip into the popper as it melts. After the popping is done you can either eat it out of the popper or dump it in the bowl.

This writeup is mainly in defense of the manufacturer who seems to be getting a pretty bad rap for this popper. I purchased the small one. My microwave is carousel and I placed the pot at the outer edge of the turn plate. It did exactly what it was supposed to do to the note. It began popping after about 10 seconds. At 2 minutes 20 seconds it quit popping. A very faint burn fragrance, but curiously there was absolutely no black popcorn to be found! I counted only 8 old maids. Tasted wonderful with normal texture and not dry or hard to chew. Very quiet, can barely hear it popping. The butter was well dispersed through the popcorn. Perfect amount for one person. Cleanup is like washing and drying a cup; I didn’t even bother to put it in the dishwasher. Cutest little thing. I hugged it after my last bite. It liked that.

This little popper is expensive but worth every penny. I’m glad I bought it and here’s why. The red top, cover and bottom are made with silicone so they don’t get hot. The top indention in the cover is for measuring the kernels and I use two instead of one and it pops almost to the top. No worry about chemicals in microwave bags any longer and I can choose my own healthy organic Great Northern popcorn, avocado oil and sea salt. Oil is optional. I like Great Northern because it’s fresh and crunchy. I just wish I had ordered the larger three quart size popcorn maker but this is fine as I make two batches. This is a good size for kids or when you just want a little snack.

This is so easy to use and makes delicious popcorn! I put about a tablespoon of coconut oil (instructions say any cooking oil) in with the corn kernels and a good pat of butter on top and cook in the microwave. I just listen for when the popping slows and remove from microwave. I add a small amount of salt and shake it up – makes perfect popcorn!!!!!!!! The full size serving makes just the right amount for my husband and I to split. The container is so pretty, I leave it out in a corner of my counter. Really a unique gift and I will be buying more!
